Why ?
This blog is being made and being added to over the course of "9 Friday's" as Ms. Clemons (the new english teacher) has told us. The first book I'm going to start to read is Insatiable by Meg Cabot. The public library just got it in and I'm going to have to keep it from them for even a longer time and I've already re-checked it out, they're gonna hate me. Well, hopefully the book is good, and hopefully I can become interested in this book and not give up on it. Wish me luck and remember; these words are to live by :)
My second book is Nothing But Trouble by Rachel Gibson and hopefully it's a good book. Just by reading the back it seems like it's going to be good so we'll cross our fingers.
I interjected a little bit of Nothing But Trouble, and now I'm just writing about Dead Until Dark. If I need more pages after I've finished with that one, then I'll write about Nothing But Trouble again.

just getting started...
I figured I should blog somethings before I get too into my book. I've already read about half, the pages 1-202 out of 451. So far, my book is a pretty good book. It's about a soap opera dialogue writter in New York City named Meena Harper. She has a unemployed brother that lives with her and a dog named Jack Bauer. Her job is basically her life, oh, and the fact that she can tell when people are going to die, and how. She's kind of been an outsider all her life because of this "gift" she's been given. Her job is all she's had and when the network decides they want to go in the direction of 'Vampire,' she's livid because that's not how the show has been for the past 30 years while she's watched it. And even worse, the girl, Shoshona, who she's done all her work for her, covered her butt when she's come to work late, and basically not cared about her job like Meena, gets the promotion as head writer over Meena. When her erratic neighbor, Mary Lou Antonescu's cousin-in-law, Lucien comes to town on buisness, she hooks up Meena and him at a dinner party. What Meena doesn't know though, is that Lucien is the Prince of the Darkness, or Vampires and Mary Lou and her husband are as well. Meena first meets Lucien when she's taking her dog for a walk at 4 am, because she can't sleep. When she's walking, she passes him and strangely these bats come down from a nearby chapel and attack her. This man, Lucien, who she's never met, throws himself on top of her to save her and her dog. When he comes out untouched, not hurt at all, Meena suspects something is up. When they meet again at the dinner party, Lucien feels this unnatural draw to Meena, to get to know her more. He shouldn't even think about these feelings because he's a vampire and he lives in Romania. But, they hangout after the dinner party and he realizes he can't live without her, and she with him and he schedules another date for the next night. But, the real reason why Lucien came to New York is because there is a vampire on the loose who's killing girls and leaving them in different parks around the city. So, Lucien, having to do his job, wants to cancel his and Meena's date and investigate. While he's here, a bunch of underground vampire-killing colonies, are trying to kill him off. Ecspecially this Alaric fellow who's best friend's face got ripped off by a vampire, so he has a personal vengeance. Well, this might be confusing because it's a little splayed out and might be hard to understand, but I promise I'll start reading less and blogging more and then it might be a little bit easier to understand. But, I can't promise anything I guess, because this book is good. :)

long enough post? did you notice you posted this at 11:11 am? lucky number.
ReplyDeletelucky book.
This sounds like a good book!! I wonder what this whole "good vampire against all the bad ones" thing means? What does it represent?? Maybe it means that even though there are bad things in the world (meaning evil vampires killing off girls, of course), there can still be good that protects and keeps life going on...
ReplyDeleteJust a thought, McKenna :)
So. I don't believe that I would enjoy this book, especially after I read that it is by a soap opera dialogue writer. But, her "gift" that you mentioned, the fact that she can tell when and how people are going to die, is pretty crazy. It would be wierd. I don't think I would like knowing when and how my family/friends are going to die. Have fun reading that book! haha
